autumn leaves under frozen souls

The August 2010 Vogue was released a few weeks ago showing the latest fashion for the next season, A/W 2010/11. To me, it feels like I have been robbed of a summer. It is mid July yet I am forced to forget the trends that I had been excited about six months ago and to look towards the next season. In some ways, these early previews of the next season means that we are ahead of the weather, however in Britain, it seems to be a never-ending autumn with the constant showers, which I had hoped would stay in April. When a child, I wore dresses whatever the weather and my prepubescent years saw me take on the jeans look day-in, day-out. Now, as I steadily work my way into becoming a woman, I take into the fashion of the time, become excited with the changing fashions. This is not the case when the previews for the A/W enter into Vogue. As my favourite season, I want to be able to savour summer from the first signs mid-May, with the hot bank holidays, to the very last days in September, until the leaves fall on the path in front of me. These previews make the summer days seem so short and autumn seem too soon. I shall sign off on a high by saying at least in six months time, I will have the joy of the spring/summer 2011 previews.
